Many sincere and good people, who have varying beliefs about God, have the right to believe whatever they want. However, everyone's belief cannot be true when it comes to God's existence and identity. This is not uncaring or intolerant; it's simply, as we have just reviewed how truth works. If truth could contradict itself, a Christian and an Atheist would both be correct about God's existence and we know this is impossible.

Suppose you were a detective and six people showed up (an Atheist, Buddhist, Muslim, Mormon, Hindu and Christian) with different stories claiming to be the sole heir of a tremendous fortune. Could they all be telling the truth? No, you would immediately recognize the obvious problem, six people claiming to be the sole heir is a contradiction and could not possibly be true.

Therefore you would check out their stories and follow the evidence to uncover the truth. At some point their explanations would be contradictory to the facts in your investigation. Once you discover who the actual heir is, you would know for certain that the other five claims were false, no matter how close to the truth they appeared.

When it comes to God we have a similar situation. Many people have shown up and claim to know the truth about God. On the surface it may seem like most of them are headed in the same direction. But when we look closer, we see that they all contradict each other when it comes to the most important points, like salvation. Christianity is the sole belief that teaches salvation by God's grace, through faith alone. The others teach works (good deeds) and specific conditions as a necessity. Both can't be right.

We can rest assured that even though there are trials, tragedies and hardships in life, if we live our life according to God's plans and purposes, He will work everything out in our life for good. Get ready to sit down, relax and enjoy this beautifully written book full of hope, encouragement and faith through the story of one family that overcame life's adversities through oneness in Christ.

Author, Theresa Franklin does a wonderful job in administering to the heart of families and encouraging families to stick together in love through this fictional short story. We all know what our lives look from the outside. But when we examine our family life from the inside, more than we like to admit, one will find dysfunction in the home. When we come to a place of acknowledging our sins and confessing them to God, God can work on our behalf. The author asks these important questions and urges us all to spend, "…time in front of God's mirror and try to see what those who know you best actually see? Are you a Christian? Have you accepted Christ as your savior?" In that, the author is asking, are you walking the walk and talking the talk? So many people profess to be Christians, but as Christians we should be exhibiting love, respect and service to our families in the home as well. If not, this book will lead the way to a new path of wholeness in Christ for families.

Driven by emotions, control, negativity, judgment and perfectionism, Cynthia is in complete denial of her behavior towards her family members. Severely affected, the husband is miserable, and her children avoid her as much as possible. Inevitably when there is dysfunction in the home, the author states, the stress can be measured in emotional and physical illnesses. Although the book is a fictional story, the author has described a very real and believable picture of how life is in our own families sometimes. The Owens family is torn from the inside out, due to stresses from the contention and discord caused by one family member suffering from deep emotional wounds caused from her own dysfunctional childhood.

This book is truly a blessing to families and the body of Christ. The author, through the use of scriptures and examples of family life, paints a wonderful picture of how life can be through the love and redemption of Jesus Christ. The author promotes family in this story of healing and encourages others, that "…love covereth a multitude of sins." Families will find solace and comfort through this book. Theresa's Franklin's writing style flows smoothly making for an easy read, keeping the reader fully engaged. This book will minister to all families that are "less than perfect." A highly recommend, encouraging read that will impact others for Christ. God can work in any situation, as the author illustrates, even the impossible ones.

Calvary Chapel congregation stunned as Chuck Smith announces that he has lung cancer

COSTA MESA, CA (ANS) -- The congregation at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, California, were stunned today (Sunday, January 01, 2012) when Pastor Chuck Smith, it senior pastor, announced during his Sunday morning services that he has lung cancer and will have a biopsy on Tuesday and surgery the following week.

Chuck Smith started preaching in the 1960s Chuck Smith, now in his eighties and the father of the Jesus People Revolution in Southern California, said that he has never smoked in his life.
At at the end of the third service that was broadcast on KWVE 107.9 FM, his son-in-law, Brian Brodersen, joined with other pastors at the huge church and anointed him with oil and prayed for his healing.

Karl Corcoran, evangelism pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, posted on Facebook, "Update: Pastor Chuck Smith having surgery this month for lung cancer after a series of tests this week. Estimated recovery time is 3 weeks."

In response to the posting, Kathy Buckley Keys said, "We were stunned with the news of Pastor Chuck. His ways are higher than ours and He is able to keep that which is committed to Him so we commit Pastor Chuck and all that is related to him, family, doctors and treatments to the Great Physician who knows Pastor Chuck intimately and ask for His guidance, favor, love and support through this time."

Shortly after the announcement, the KWVE Facebook page was flooded with goodwill messages for Chuck Smith.

Joni Barger wrote, "I'm praying for a miracle. I'm an avid listener to the radio program. Pastor Chuck I've learned so much from you. God is with you Sir."

Kim Krabbenhoft-Ancora posted, "Oh I am so sad...tears...we will be lift him up in prayer...but as said above, Pastor Chuck of all people will use this to bring Glory to The Lord!!!"

Adrianna Kneefel added, "We love you Pastor Chuck...the Lord uses your life daily to feed thousands of His sheep. Praying that much fruit would come out of this and that the the sickness would be removed in Jesus name... we speak words of life! Lord let your servant live and continue to bring the Word. Chuck is a bright light in a dark age... Lord let his light shine!"

Rachel Fret said, "I was floored when I heard the news this morning. Praying for Papa Chuck and his family. .. my husband had an aunt who died of lung cancer a few years ago. She never smoked in her whole life. Doctors assumed that it was due to where she was living...Redlands, Ca...air pollution. Don't know but yeah, we found out then that it's not a cancer caused by smoking."

And Cassandra Voight Estes posted, "Praying... Please Lord keep Chuck with us so that others might hear your precious word. You have blessed Chuck all these years. I know he will not waste his cancer and you will use it for you glory."

In a previous tribute to Chuck Smith, ANS correspondent, Brian Nixon, who for several years co-hosted Pastors Perspective with Chuck Smith, wrote: "Pastor Chuck Smith, founder of the Calvary Chapel Movement and one of the key figureheads of the Jesus Movement, has touched the hearts and lives of countless of people in his six decades of ministry.

"Not to mention his influence upon the fabric of Christian culture: from the 2,000 plus Calvary Chapel churches spanning the globe to the praise-and-worship phenomena initiated in the 1960's. His impact looms large in the halls of modern Christian history.

"Sadly, however, Pastor Chuck had a brief setback, suffering a couple of what were described as 'mini-strokes' at his home on December 27, 2009.

"I was blessed to have worked side-by-side with Pastor Chuck for almost eight years, covering numerous fields: education, publishing, radio, and television.

"Not only was I able to glean from his words, thoughts, answers, and actions, on a weekly basis, but I was also able to watch him in a variety of situations: answering questions on a radio program we hosted together, cooperating with him on books, brainstorming and praying with him through tough educational situations. And, most special of all, to watch his interaction with other human beings.

"Let me say that ... Pastor Chuck is a true gentleman. He is a man who understands God's grace and the need for people to experience that grace in the love of Christ."

From Sinking Sand is an extraordinary book by Author Marsha Lenski testifying to her moral failure in the form of an adulterous affair. Marsha has been featured on "Life Today" with James and Betty Robison and CBN's 700 Club with her amazing testimony. Her story is a familiar one; at the time, she had no idea the ripple effect her adulterous affair would have in her life, nor that her moral failure would ever be discovered. What makes this book so extraordinary is that the author is brazenly honest and surprisingly transparent as she takes the reader back to her time of playing with the fire of adultery. Not only did she get burned in the process, being reduced to a pile of ashes, but her husband, her children, her close friends and family, extended friends and even acquaintances all learned that no one can play with fire and not get burned. Not only was her life forever changed, but also that of everyone she knew.

This book is a wake-up call to all who might consider adultery as some light thing. But there is hope, that hope is found in a loving Savior who died for our sins. The promise of that covenant is written in blood-His own blood for eternity. It doesn't matter how deep of a pit you might be in or what your condition might be, no sin is too great and it's never to late to turn to Jesus Christ as your Savior. This book lovingly testifies to the great love, mercy and grace of God and how, when you surrender your life to the Lord how He can turn your life around for the good.

Botox Injections Used To Manage Spaticity and Tone For Patiens with MS

When you're dealing with symptoms like mine –- paralyzing spasticity, intention tremors, numbness and visual problems – spaticity or tone can become overwhelming, making movement and performing simple tasks terribly difficult if not impossable... and in some cases acutely imbarrssing. Consider the other day: I woke up at 6 a.m., taking care to adjust the firmness of my Sleep Number bed so that I would be able to sit up and slide out of bed. A soft mattress just means that as I attempt to sit up I will just fall backwards increasing the spasticity and tone in my legs rendering my legs useless. The tone and spasticity only becoming greater with each attempt to sit up, of course it's morning so I have to urinate and the more I flop around on the bed like a flounder the more urgent that need becomes. And, we all know that as the situation becomes more dire it becomes more stressful resulting in greater tone in my legs. From there, I managed to get into my motorized chair. (My power chair, grunt, grunt! Sounds masculine doesn't it? Well, hold on, because I'm about to be emasculate).

I shot into my beautifully-renovated handicapped-accessible bathroom. Utilizing a jungle gym of grab bars I managed to sit myself onto the toilet but my legs were locked tightly together in front of me, toes pointing at the ceiling, not exactly the position most conducive for a guy to empty his bladder. What to do, what to do? Not much time to consider that. We were down to the buzzer, as they say. I grabbed a towel and threw it on my lap. Ahhh... Sometimes a guy just has to do what he has to do. Spasticity sucks! Time for a shower.

Is there any relief beyond the frequently prescribed drugs life Baclofen and Zannaflex? Yes, there is... it's called Botox. Botox the same stuff injected by many to reduce wrinkles in one's face,, by temporarily paralyzing the facial muscles has been used successfully to reduce and in many cases eliminate spatisity and tone. I have been getting Botox injections in my thighs, calves and ankles every two or three months for the past year and I feel like a new man. Stressful situations still bring on the tone, but for the most part the tone is gone. My knees bend easily for simple entry and exhibiting to and from the passenger seat of the car. When I am sitting in my wheelchair my knees are bent and my feet are on the floor. Don't just take my word for it... read my friend Ami's testimony below...

Ami says, "O"Okay the botox shots have helped a ton! I don't feel my legs any weaker than before, but the spasticity has gone down a lot! I can bend my legs without having to pry them to bend, can straighten them and they'll relax and start bending in, my feet go flat,and my legs open a little! (hard to self cath when your legs are locked closed!) and I can sleep once again in my normal position! Although I end up back on my side. Should have had this done a LONG time ago!!"I have to agree with Ami... Why did I go years, before giving the Botox injections a shot? Pun intended, smile.

Mrkvicka Jr. with Kelly Helen Mrkvicka takes a look at the plague of the 21st century and one of the main contributors to the destruction of the American family-the sin of Adultery. Being a lay minister and a man who has studied the Word for many years, the author, Edward F. Mrkvicka Jr., gives not his opinion, but gives the absolute truth of God's Word through an extensive categorical list of scripture therefore laying first a biblical foundation. Then by clearly stating first God's view and comparing it with Society's view, the author lays bare the truth about adultery and the devastating consequences of adultery, not only to the person who commits the sin, but to others we love in our life who are the innocent victims of this pervasive ripple effect sin that is so prevalent in our society.

Most do no realize the far-reaching consequences of the sin of adultery in their lives, nor the cost and the author makes no mistake that there is no such thing as 'an innocent affair'. This book is an eye opener for most and highly recommended for anyone either contemplating an adulterous affair or for those who may have been entangled in an adulterous affair. The author shows the way out with some of most practical teachings culminated from the infallible Word of God to bring others out of their sin and into the light of the Lord.

Openly, but lovingly, the author shares the unavoidable, yet dire consequences of adultery and reveals that not only does it affect our lives spiritually and physically, but the sin has a ripple effect that goes on to "… virtually every innocent person in our lives" (p.11). The consequences are so monumental, that no one in their right mind "armed" with the truth of God's Word would commit adultery, but sadly, the author concedes from a recent survey, "…that over 88 percent of Americans believe adultery is wrong. Yet 77 percent of marriages involve at least one adultery." This alarming fact in our society today is bringing many to the wide-path of destruction. Quite simply put, it is choosing death over life.

Edward Mrkvicka's true desire is two-fold, first for all those that may be contemplating adultery to know the absolute truth of God's Word and the dire consequences and for those that are in an adulterous affair or have been in the past that they would also realize the devastating consequences and that the truth would bring true repentance in their life. Lastly, Mrkvicka's desire is that all would receive eternal life in Jesus Christ. Again, the author does not give his opinion, but God's view and His Holy Word. This book offers no excuses, nor apologies, but gives the truth of the Word of God. This book is truly a blessing to the body of Christ and to all who read it.

This subject is not an easy subject to be discussed, nor is it very popular, but with so many on the path to destruction in our society it is a must read for anyone entangled in or contemplating adultery. This fascinating and well-written book exposes the truth and deception in the sin of adultery and brings forth light to the subject. Thankfully, the author ends that there is hope and states, "God can save us" (p.11). For there is one hope, and that one hope is the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. Come, read, know the truth and be set free.

All the time in the world

ORANGE COUNTY, CA (ANS) -- Groundhog Day is over and Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow; whew. I bet the half of the country under snow is happy to hear that!.

But the coolest, no pun intended, thing about “Groundhog Day” is the movie of the same name, which is one of my favorite movies. As you know, it is an apparent comedy starring Bill Murray as an arrogant, self-centered weatherman exiled to Punxsutawney, Pa. for their annual rodent fest. The exile becomes permanent as a habit when Murray’s bore (named Phil, like the groundhog) finds himself reliving the day over and over.

With humor the movie asks a deep question: What would you do if you had all the time in the world?

Phil puts it differently: “What if every day was exactly the same and nothing you did mattered?” This he initially answers with a litany of deadly sins.

As his approach — “I don’t worry about anything anymore. I don’t even have to floss.” — wears weary and thin, Phil grows depressed. Asked for the forecast he replies, “It’s gonna be cold, it’s gonna be gray, and it’s gonna last you for the rest of your life.”

Bill Murray in Groundhog Day

He tries suicide knowing it won’t stick: “I’ve been killed so many times I don’t even exist.” About God he muses, “Maybe he’s not omnipotent. Maybe he’s just been around so long he knows everything.”

He comes to see many things matter. He learns the piano, helps stranded elderly women, saves the mayor from choking, is nice to people, catches a boy falling from a tree, and spends this evening with a vagrant, on what turns out to be that man’s last night on earth. He learns how to pay attention.

He also has fun: a bachelor auction and snowball battles are among the diversions, and he courts his news producer, Andie MacDowell. He learns about her, pays more attention, and … you probably know it goes well. In the end he has learned what to do with all the time in the world.
As I mulled this, the objection came to mind: yeah, but he lived the same day over and over. He didn’t get sick or have to earn a living. In fact, he didn’t have to live, at all.

But he did. He just lived it slow, so he could … pay attention. Phil saw his 78 RPM life spin at 33 … and then slow down even more. It was a test and a gift, a challenge and a chance. He saw what we need to see — each day is so crucial. It’s something we often see only after we live thousands of them.

These “fast-forwards” show what’s possible in the future if we start now.
It probably didn’t take 5,000 days to woo Andie McDowell, but even if it did that’s less than 14 years. So how long do you plan to be married? It’s time enough to learn the piano.
Murray’s meteorologist also comes to recognize that the value of the present moment is often to be found in interaction with, and focus on, other people. He begins to care. As C.S. Lewis has written:

“It may be possible for each of us to think too much of his own potential glory hereafter; it is hardly possible for him to think too often or too deeply about that of his neighbour … It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember the dullest and most uninteresting person you can talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you meet, if at all, only in a nightmare.”

Lewis adds, “All day long we are helping each other to one or the other of these destinations. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal.”

Phil found that having all the time in the world meant nothing if he lived for himself. Learning to play the piano means loving something beside you. Paying attention means loving someone beside me.

This can only happen day by day because we live only in this present moment. At the same time, we must be mindful of the effects of many years of doing the same thing.

Mother Teresa bathed tens of thousands of beggars -- one at a time.
This concept is expressed across cultures and years, through aphorism, parable — and miracle. As Christ turned five loaves and two fishes into food for a multitude, he sped up a natural process for which he has full authority anyway.

All the days it takes to turn bread and fish into more bread and fish, sped up in that moment … miracle. A few loaves and fish became a banquet. Water became wine, as it can if we knew how. Lazarus came forth, as one day we all will.

This holds in everything from writing to raising children, teaching to learning — and paying attention.

What would we do if we had all the time in the world?
Because the truth is, we do.

The play is about an arrogant millionaire who does not believe in God and Jesus Christ's Salvation for man. The millionaire believes man is the measure of all things and not God. He refuses to accept the fact he is in hell. He believes his paper work must have been misplace and this is all a mistake. The millionaire is told that God does not make mistakes. He demands Satan look into the matter at once and complains it's to hot in hell and asks Satan to turn the air conditioners on.

Satan tries to convince the millionaire there is no paper work mix up and hell is where he belongs. The millionaire not hearing any of it tells Satan he needs better customer service in hell because he would never hire him. Satan has the other residences of hell to give their testimonies of why they were in hell, but the millionaire is unconvinced.

The Fruit Of Compromise

Jesus spoke of the man who built his house on solid foundation vs. the man that built his house on sand. One was built on rock solid foundation, while the other was not. Jesus went on to say that the house built on the solid foundation could withstand difficult times, that the winds could blow and the house would remain, but that the house built on sand would not stand and great would be the fall of it. Just imagine the endless situations and circumstances that this application could apply to.

Sometimes it's possible to start out on solid foundation and slowly be moved to unstable foundation. One way for this to happen is through compromise. We all occasionally compromise, however if we continue to walk in compromise it can cause a shift and that shift can lead to unstable grounds.

When this happens, we must examine situations, ourselves, and the path that we have taken. For it's easy to get off course in today's world.

Balloon Saga Potential Hoax

I'm sure that you watch the balloon that came loose and everyone thought that a boy was inside of it. The ordeal was shown on nationwide television a few weeks ago as the balloon traveled some 20 plus miles at 3,000 plus feet high. It was quite a sight to see on television, especially with the potential that a small young boy might have been in the balloon.

Well according to recent news reports online, apparently the whole situation may have been a hoax right from take off. Apparently the mother of the 6 year old boy that once feared that the boy was missing inside a runaway helium balloon admitted the whole saga was a hoax according to the article.

It just goes to show you the emotional power of nationwide television because as this odeal was first shown on television millions around the country and possibly the world were convinced that a young boy was in that balloon. For me, regardless of what was, I'm just glad that he wasn't indeed in that balloon. Hats off to all the local authorities that chased that balloon down and brought it safely back to earth the whole time having great concern that a boy might be in the helium balloon. They are the true hero's.

It's actually a fun study to look into and it definitely gives you an overview on ancient societies and ancient history of some of the cultures of the world. There is so much history when it comes to mankind that to study it all could take a lifetime. Just imagine living 1,000 years ago, or even in the days of Christ.

I love to read the Bible which shares accounts clear back to creation in the book of Genesis when the Lord God formed man from the dust of the earth. We all know the story of Adam and Eve. The Bible is filled with history, accounts, life and matters that pertain to eternal life. Let me encourage you to add the Bible to your studies daily. For within the scriptures are some of the most important things you will ever read.

Psalm 9 - Praise God For His Deliverance (Part Three).

We must take seriously the radical contrast between the “wicked” and the “needy.” - "The wicked return to the grave, all the nations that forget God. But the needy will not always be forgotten,
nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish" (vs. 17-18).

Who are the “needy”? – Here, God’s Word is speaking to us of the godly who recognize their spiritual need of the Lord’s saving grace. By contrasting the “wicked” and the “needy”, God is calling us to come to Him, in our need, and receive, from Him, his salvation.

There are two prayers which we must pray.

We must ask that God will make it known that He is Lord - "Arise, O LORD, let not man triumph;
let the nations be judged in your presence" (v. 19)..

We must ask that we will recognize that we are “but men.” - "Strike them with terror, O LORD;
let the nations know they are but men" (v. 20).

When we recognize that God is God and we are but men, we are ready to be led to the Cross where we learn of both God’s hatred of sin and God’s love for the sinner.

Thus, we come to the point where we are able to share, with the Psalmist, in worshipping the Lord - "I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High" (vs. 1-2).

We worship God as those who have come to trust in Him as the God of our salvation -"The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you" (vs. 9-10).

Trusting in the Lord, the God of our salvation, our worship is heartfelt worship - "I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart" (v. 1).

Trusting in the Lord, the God of our salvation, our worship is joyful worship - "I will be glad and rejoice in you" (v. 2).

We read about God’s trustworthiness - "The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you" (vs. 9-10).
We praise God. We make it known that He is to be praised - "Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what He has done" (v. 11).
In our worship, we speak of God’s judgment as well as His salvation - "For He who avenges blood remembers; He does not ignore the cry of the afflicted" (v. 12).
In our worship, we look to the Lord for mercy and, with joy, we praise Him for His salvation - "O LORD, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death, that I may declare your praises in the gates of the Daughter of Zion and there rejoice in your salvation" (vs. 13-14).
As well as emphasizing that God is trustworthy, we must also emphasize that He is not to be taken for granted by proud unbelief - "The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden. The LORD is known by his justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hand" (vs. 15-16).

* The Psalmist worships the Lord - I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High" (vs. 1-2).

* He does not speak proud words. He sees all things in the light of the holy God - "My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you. For you have upheld my right and my cause; you have sat on your throne, judging righteously. You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked;
you have blotted out their name for ever and ever. Endless ruin has overtaken the enemy, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished. The LORD reigns forever;
he has established his throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness;
he will govern the peoples with justice" (vs. 3-6).

* At the heart of this Psalm, there is a declaration of the character of God - "The LORD reigns forever; He has established his throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness; He will govern the peoples with justice" (vs. 7-8).

* The majesty, righteousness and judgment of God – Have we lost these important aspects of God’s character? Have we turned God into a sentimentalized ‘god’ of our own making?

Let’s not take God for granted. Let God be God. This is very different from insisting that God must be what we think He should be.

America Must Do Something

I must admit that I'm at a loss. We have NASA which accomplishes great things. We have technology that is flat out amazing. Our military is the most powerful well equipped military in the world. The world looks to America for many things and to help solve many problems. Yet, we can't safeguard our citizens and our children from drugs, gangs and the violence, death and destruction they cause.

In the blink of an eye, we can ship men off to war, prepare entire battle plans and engage an enemy with strategic force, yet we can't end illegal drugs. We are able to put satellites into orbit, but we can't end illegal drugs.

I just wonder why? Why can America accomplish such great things, however America can't stop the flow of illegal drugs into our country? I'm praying for a drug free America and for our children's future, free from drugs, gangs, violence, and the death and destruction they cause. America, wake up.

Oh my if it rains this winter this state just might be in for some wet, muddy times. With all the recent fires and countless acres burnt all we need is some heavy rain this winter and the hill sides will be sliding all over the place. This could also lead to potential flooding, damaged homes and evacuations. At the very least we Californians as Arnold would say should prepare for the just in case. Somehow I believe that is the wise thing to do.

We occasionally encounter those days that affect us. They affect our happiness, our personalities, our character and some times others around us. Depression is occasionally a part of life, unfortunately. However when misery and unhappiness becomes a daily routine, somethings wrong, drastically wrong. Many times within this we easily blame others for our unhappiness or we adapt that if only I could, or if only life was attitude.

The truth is that there is something wrong and that something is found deep inside of us. Yes, we can blame others and take on that pity party attitude. I love to rest in God. Life comes with many different challenges and sometimes those challenges can overwhelm us. Over the years I've learned a very important fruit of the Spirit. Patience! Within such, I've learned to rest in God, to not respond so quickly or become easily offended by situations. I simply take a deep breath and start praying when situations arise. When we rest in God, we find God's peace, wisdom and counsel flowing and that simply calms the storms. It helps us to put things into perspective.

As we come to know God and His ways, our walk with God and as a Christian goes through many seasons and challenges. I love reading the Bible and I think back to those seasons when I devoured it day after day. It is the most interesting book I have ever read. It is also the most life changing book I have ever read.

Have you ever noticed how a spider will spin a web to catch it's next victim? They carefully spin the web in just the right place and then sit and wait for the catch. Have you ever watched a pack of wolves stalk it's prey?

It is the same with the sheep being the flock of God. There's strength and safety in numbers, however if as a sheep you stray off all alone, you just might find yourself not only being guarded and protected within the flock, but falling prey to the wolves.

Living In The Fast Lane

If you're like me, you like fast cars. There's just something about racing that holds my interest. You see, I use to race professionally and I remember those times at various race tracks. It was fun, a lot of fun. It's one thing to race fast cars at local and national race tracks and it's another thing to live your life in the fast lane. Before you know it, you can get burnt out.

If your at that place of burn out in life or ministry, let me encourage you to slow down and enjoy life. God never intended for you to get burnt out, but to run the race well, to persevere and to be victorious. It's God's Will that you win and have abundant life in the process.

The Word Of God - Our Pure And Trustworthy Guide

Reading the words of the Psalmist, “The words of the Lord are pure words” (Psalm 12:6), brought to mind the words of the Apostle Paul – “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst” (1 Timothy 1:15). God’s Word is pure. God’s Word is trustworthy. Take these two thoughts together. We think of the perfection of God’s Word. Let’s also give thanks for His perfect love. there is no love like the love of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. He loves us with the greatest love of all. There can be nothing more perfect than this – the love of Jesus. Where do we learn of His love? We learn of His love as we read God’s Word – “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so”, I am so glad that my Father in heaven tells of His love in the Book He has given. Wonderful things in the Bible I see. This is the greatest that Jesus loves me” ... As we receive mercy from the Lord, we rejoice in His trustworthiness. Deeply conscious of our sin, which He so graciously forgives, we become deeply conscious of His holiness, and we bow before Him in worship. The greatness of His holiness and the greatness of His mercy – the two belong together. They remind us that we, who haven saved by grace, are called to holiness. In our journey along “the High Way of Holiness” (Isaiah 35:8), we have the Word of God as our pure and trustworthy guide.

Here are the words of Jesus on the matter. Life changing words that are over 2,000 years old, yet eternal.

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

They key is reading, knowing, understanding and holding onto the sayings of Jesus.

Cartoon Shows

My daughter loves her cartoon shows. Daily she watches them and sits quietly taking in all the images and sounds. Sometimes she laughs and laughs, other times she's just intently watching, and other times she's dancing to the songs. As the years have passed her mother and I have noted that she acts out some of the cartoon characters, has picked up some of the sayings and even names her dolls and bears after some of the cartoon characters and then there are the songs which she has learned and sings from time to time. She's only 5 years old.

Now imagine a teenager free to watch and view whatever television program or movie that's on the television or cable?

Do you know what you're kids are watching on television?

“By Grace You Have Been Saved Through Faith”

“It is by grace you have been saved through faith” (Ephesians 2:8). By grace, we are in Christ. Through faith, we are in Christ.

* “He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock” – This is grace.

* “Rock opf ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee” – This is faith.

Grace and faith belong together.

- We are not saved by grace apart from faith.

- We are saved by grace through faith.

The grace of God reaches us as we receive Jesus Christ in faith.

- We are not saved by faith apart from grace.

- We are saved by grace through faith.

Faith has no meaning in itself. Faith finds its meaning only in relation to the grace of God. Faith is God’s way for us to come to Him through our Lord Jesus Christ.

“By grace you have been saved through faith” – This is the Christian’s unshakeable foundation. With this unshakeable foundation, the Christian can face the attacks of the enemy with confidence.

‘Take the little scroll and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey’ (10:9). We are to feed on God’s Word - the difficult parts as well as those passages which make us feel good. God’s Word speaks about judgment as well as salvation. Before we can rejoice in ‘the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ’, we must hear about His ‘wrath’: ‘The time has come for judging the dead’ (15,18). ‘Sweet and sour’: We need both for a balanced diet of God’s Word. We need the ‘sour’ - ‘It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God’ - as well as the ‘sweet’ - ‘God so loved the world...’ (Hebrews 10:31; John 3:16). The ‘sour’ - ‘Flee from the wrath to come’ - creates a hunger for the ‘sweet’ - ‘the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world’ (Matthew 3:7; John 1:29).

The Root Of All Evil

It is written and said that money is the root of all evil. Imagine that. We put it in banks, invest it, spend it, borrow it, pay interest on it, keep it in jars, our wallets and our pockets. Yet money is the root of all evil.

Note that it's not the seed, but the root. Fuel for thought.

Feeding on Jesus - The Bread Of Life

Jesus said, ‘I am the Bread of Life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst’(John 6:35). Jesus had enemies - ‘The Jews then murmured at Him, because He said, “I am the bread which comes down from heaven”’(John 6:41). Christ’s enemies are still with us. They ‘murmur among themselves’(John 6:43). How are we to respond to this situation? We must feed on Jesus Christ, ‘the Living Bread’(John 6:51). Whatever difficulties we may face, the Lord provides for us: ‘You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies’(Psalm 23:5). We have His invitation: ‘O taste and see that the Lord is good!’(Psalm 34:8). With His provision and invitation, let us make our response: ‘We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread, and long to feast upon Thee still’(Church Hymnary, 571).

In an earlier version of his notes on Genesis (written in 1960 and re-issued in 1970), George Philip offered a thought-provoking contrast between the first verse of Genesis - "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1) and the final verse of Genesis - "Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten. And after they embalmed him, he was placed in a coffin in Egypt" (Genesis 50:26).

He calls us to "remember, it was Joseph who was in the coffin, and not God. God buries his workmen, but carries on His work."

Let's Stop Running Away From God.

Where can I flee from your presence?

⁸ If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

We can run away from God, but we can't get away from Him!

Let's stop running away from God.

Even when we're "a great way off", He is running out to meet us (Luke 15:20).

He loved us long before we ever thought of loving Him - "When we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son" (Romans 5:10).

Keeping The Slate Clean

Just because something seems one way doesn't always mean that's the way it is. Yes, we can let things go and for a time it may appear as if it simply doesn't exist. Yet as time passes we find that it does exists.

Better to take care of unfinished business and keep the slate clean. Remember God's forgiveness is always available.

In Solomon, we see strength and weakness. He was strong - ‘the House of the Lord was completed’ (2 Chronicles 8:16). He was also weak. He was infatuated with foreign women, who did not belong among the redeemed people of God. He married ‘Pharaoh’s daughter’, a woman who had no love for ‘the holy places’ of worship (2 Chronicles 8:11). To the queen of Sheba, a woman who had more love for ‘her own land’ than for life among the people of God, ‘Solomon gave all that she desired’ (2 Chronicles 9:12). Solomon was a complicated man. He had a real love for the Lord, yet the world still had a strong hold on him. “O let me feel Thee near me: the world is ever near; I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear; My foes are ever near me, around me and within; but, Jesus, draw Thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin.’

Difficult Times Nationally

It seems that our nation is encountering some difficult and challenging times. Of course from a prophetic perspective the prophets are prophesying good times, seasons of abundance and so on. Yet when one looks at the seasons past, the current season and the seasons to come. One see's the word of God coming to pass.

Yes, times are difficult, challenging and the course is set.

Be wise saints of God, be wise. The prophetic time clock as mentioned in the Word of God is ticking.

The Model Of The Lord

Funny how human beings come up with models for various ministries within the body of Christ. These models usually come with rules, the precepts of men and are very religious, sometime almost cultish.

The model of the Lord however, is love and a basic understanding of that love through experience and application of the scriptures.
